Hello, I'm Deniz Aydın. After studying Photography and Graphic Arts in Turkey, I worked as a photographer specialising in food, events, and portraits for over 10 years. In 2018, I moved from Istanbul to London and continued my career as a food and portrait photographer.
When the pandemic hit, I finally had the opportunity to explore ceramics, an art form I’d been keen to explore for a long time. The moment I touched the clay – I know this sounds very romantic – I felt like I had found something I had been searching for, which I had lost in the darkrooms that faded with digital photography.
My relationship with photography returned to where it all started, to street photography, which I’ve always loved. And for the past two and a half years, I’ve been learning and creating in ceramics. The more I learn, the more I admire the limitless possibilities of this art.
So far, I have mostly been using hand-building techniques and recently started throwing. I’d be happy to have you join the Facebook group where I share my experiences and observations as someone who started from scratch.
I don’t know where this journey will take me, but I’m glad to be on this path. Thank you for your company.
All the best,
Deniz
